psa program

Each year Women in Film and Television Atlanta partners with a local non-profit to help raise the public profile of their organization and charitable cause. We provide this unique service to the community by producing and distributing pro-bono Public Service Announcements on their behalf. We are pleased to be able to utilize the talents and skills of our industry's best for the service of the greater community.
Through our annual PSA Program WIFTA seeks to:
Provide needy and under-funded non-profit organizations with a successful way to publicize their services to the community. Specifically we focus on highlighting issues central to women and children that are often not given the attention or media access they deserve due to lack of funding.
Nurture & promotes the advancement of women directors by affording one or more talented female members the opportunity to serve as the Director of that year’s PSA/Campaign. Such an opportunity allows them to hone their skills and build their portfolio while assisting other non-profits with their communication needs.
Encourage our members and the local community to contribute their time and resources to perform community service vital to the well being of our society. We welcome participation in all areas and departments of production from crew members to on-camera talent where applicable. Volunteers gain valuable production experience while contributing to the needs of a deserving organization.

How it Works
Our PSAs represent the highest level of professional quality and we have been extremely successful with distribution. WIFTA only works with those organizations that cannot afford this type of service and would otherwise have no way to seek support from the community. At the heart of the program is the fact that everyone who works on the PSA donates their time, talent and services. No one gets paid in dollars - only in good feeling and great experience!
Our Success
WIFTA’s PSA Program is truly a win-win for everyone involved. The program's success can be measured in both the results for the charities served and in the recognition that has been received from awards programs. In the past our program has had the privilege and honor of being recognized for those collective efforts with awards from several esteemed award-governing bodies, including:
- 2008 Golden World Award - "Dear John" PSA Campaign
- 2007 Southeastern Regional Emmy Award - "Dear John" PSA Campaign
- 2006 Cine Golden Eagle Award - "Intruder Within" PSA on domestic violence

Despite the generous donation of equipment and services by our
production crew and staff, minimal budgets have always been necessary
to cover the hard costs of the PSA production, including insurance and
expendables. Financial support to cover the hard costs associated with
the program is obtained through our fundraising efforts and
sponsorships.
